Addictions

Hi, Kitties, It's September already! Wow, how time flies! What a concept when we all know that there is no such thing as time! Something that does not exist actually flying! Well, this month we are going to investigate addictions.

You say, "I am not addicted to alcohol or any drug, prescription or illegal!" I say "wrong type of addiction". It's not a substance thing; it's an emotional thing. Do people on the road upset you? Do people on your job upset you? Does the jerk brother in law upset you? Does_____ (you fill in the blank) upset you? Well, it's an addiction and you are addicted to being upset by these people. And what's worse, it's YOUR OWN fault. Yes, yours! So what do we do about it? So what can we or you or anyone else do to get rid of these emotional addictions?

Well, it's so simple it's ridiculous, but not so easy. You see, when we no longer allow someone to aggravate us, they will go away and aggravate someone else and we are FREE! Yes, that is the answer. However, how do we get ourselves in a position so that they no longer upset us? Well, we just ignore them. We recognize that they are going to harass someone and they don't care who! You, your sister, your brother, etc, it makes no difference who, just as long as they can get their "jollies" from upsetting someone.

So - now that you know that, you have to get into a mindset that will not allow you to get upset. If you know that it's not personal because they don't care who they upset as long as they can upset someone, you can decide that it isn't going to be you! What a concept! What an idea! Just know that it will be someone else when it's not you any more and don't let it bother you anymore. I like it! The idea that this yahoo who is addicted to upsetting me will have to look to someone else when I stop getting upset excites me! Maybe it will be his or her partner and they could end up being alone and lonely! Good punishment for someone who bugs you? NO! You see it's 50% you because if you did not get upset, they would stop bugging you! Now at first it will be hard to ignore them because you too are addicted to the chemicals your body produces when you get upset. However, the more you don't allow yourself to get upset, the more they will leave you alone until your addiction is gone and so are they! Then you are FREE! Now look around to see who they are bugging because they are still addicted to the adrenalin that results from the trauma and drama.
